Anti-Corrosion
Langvarig rustbeskyttelse med nanocoating
Rusted metal railings illustrate how unprotected steel succumbs to corrosion over time. Advanced nanocoatings form an invisible shield to prevent such damage. Corrosion is a pervasive challenge across oil & gas, marine, infrastructure, and other industries.
Left unchecked, rust and oxidation degrade critical equipment and structures – the global cost of corrosion is estimated around $2.5 trillion (≈3.4% of GDP) annually (NACE, 2017).
This leads to frequent maintenance, downtime, and even environmental hazards from leaks or structural failures. NanoTech Solutions’ anti-corrosion nanocoatings are engineered to combat this problem at the source. By leveraging nanotechnology, we create ultra-thin protective layers that isolate metal surfaces from moisture, oxygen, and corrosive chemicals. The result is a dramatically longer lifespan for assets and lower life-cycle costs for operators.

Technology & Scientific Principles
Our anti-corrosion nanocoatings work by forming a continuous nano-scale barrier that actively repels water and corrosive ions. Unlike traditional paints, these coatings incorporate advanced materials (such as sol-gel ceramics and polymer composites) that bond tightly to the substrate and fill microscopic crevices. This prevents the electrochemical reactions that produce rust.
For example, Gentoo, one of our sol-gel nanocoatings, creates a hydrophobic and chemical-resistant film – it repels water, oils, acids, and bases, effectively sealing the metal off from corrosive agents.
Another solution, SAPOE, is a thermoplastic polyester nano-powder coating that can be applied as a thick, uniform layer on steel. It’s completely solvent-free and forms a dense protective shell. The scientific principle is simple: keep the environment (water, salt, chemicals) from contacting the metal, even at the micro-level.
Nanoparticles within the coating may also serve as sacrificial corrosion inhibitors or provide cathodic protection in case the layer is breached. Furthermore, nanocoatings often leverage superhydrophobicity – by creating a lotus-leaf-like roughness, they cause water to bead up and roll off, carrying particles away with it. This lotus effect ensures the surface stays dry, which is key since moisture is required for most corrosion to propagate.
Long-Term Rust Prevention
Nanocoatings significantly extend the service life of metal assets. In extreme saltwater exposure tests, our coatings have shown over 35 years of effective protection with minimal degradation. This far outlasts conventional epoxy paint systems, meaning fewer repainting cycles.
Reduced Maintenance & Downtime
By preventing rust and damage, companies avoid frequent maintenance shutdowns and costly repairs. Proactive protection can cut corrosion-related maintenance costs by 15–35% (translating to savings of hundreds of billions globally).Equipment stays operational longer, boosting productivity.
Chemical and UV Resilience
Our anti-corrosion nanocoatings are formulated to resist not just water but also aggressive chemicals and UV radiation. This all-weather durability means the coating won’t crack or deteriorate under sun exposure or acid rain, preserving the underlying metal. (Many coatings maintain integrity even in harsh offshore environments with intense UV and salt.)
Lightweight, Thin Coverage
Because the nano-layer is extremely thin relative to traditional coatings, it adds negligible weight and does not alter component dimensions. You get high performance without the bulk – critical for weight-sensitive applications (e.g., aerospace).
Environmental & Safety Benefits
Preventing corrosion helps avert leaks and structural failures. This protects the environment (no rust-induced oil spills or contamination)
and improves safety for workers and end-users. Additionally, our solvent-free formulations emit no VOCs, making application eco-friendlier.
